Davinia Salvachúa

National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Davinia Salvachúa received her PhD in Microbiology in 2013 by the Complutense University in Madrid (Spain). Dr. Salvachúa subsequently worked as postdoctoral fellow and became Staff Scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in 2014. Dr. Salvachúa is currently leading several projects related to bioprocess development in bioreactors to biologically upgrade lignin and lignocellulosic sugars to a variety of materials, chemicals, and fuel precursors. In addition, as part of an Early Career Award from the Department of Energy – Office of Science, she is also leading a project that focuses on discovering new pathways for the metabolism of lignin in white-rot fungi. In the ABF, Davinia is involved in bioprocess development with a variety of microbes, process integration, and scale up.
