Violeta Sànchez i Nogué

National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Research Focus

Violeta Sànchez i Nogué is a Chemical Engineer at the National Renewable Energy National Laboratory. She received her Ph.D. in Engineering from Lund University (Sweden) in the Department of Chemistry in 2013 studying the industrial challenges in the use of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for ethanolic fermentation of lignocellulosic biomass. Currently she works at NREL as fermentation engineer in different multidisciplinary projects for the production of fuel precursors and platform chemicals, using yeast and bacteria. She is interested in process scale-up, and the development of biotechnological processes with non-conventional microorganisms and non-conventional feedstocks. Within the Agile BioFoundry, she is involved in the process integration and scale-up efforts.
